Supreme Destiny

In a flash of light and sound that reverberates through your bones, you finally arrive at the Great City of Armia. Ears still ringing, you look around, tightly clutching the tattered note. You are greeted by a sea of unfamiliar faces, most with looks that are as lost as yours. The teleportation didn't leave you naked, but it didn't provide anything more than meager provisions to ensure today’s survival . A quick check in your backpack garnered only some old garbs, a frail weapon and a few potions. You realize that getting additional provisions and better equipment are needed to endure in this strange land.

The streets are already filled with people. A soft winds blows through the crowded streets, caressing your skin with its cool breeze. But the wind bites, persuading you to pull your ragged clothes closer to your body. The thought of curling up and sitting in a warm corner beside a hearth seems very appealing at this moment, though you're not sure if it's the cold or... the loneliness.

Mazda MX-5 "Miata"

The Mazda MX-5, also known as Miata (pronounced /miːˈɑːɾə/) in North America and Roadster (pronounced [ɺ̠oːdosɯtaː]) in Japan, is a two-seater sports car built by Mazda in Hiroshima, Japan — introduced in 1989 and now in its third generation.

According to a 2003 Edmunds.com article, "the Miata deserves credit not only for reviving a dormant passion for roadsters, but for emboldening other manufacturers."

HTC touchscreen Diamond

Just unveiled at a lavish event in London, HTC—maker of the sleek Touch for Sprint—has a new touchscreen gem on its hands, although the aptly-named Touch Diamond arrives in the rough that we call Windows Mobile.
But before I get all grumpy about Microsoft's tricky mobile OS, let's behold the Diamond's sparkling design and touch UI—and from this standpoint, there's a lot to like.

First off, the Diamond comes in a sleek, and relatively light (according to the specs, at least) jet-black shell. Measuring 4 by 2 by 0.45 inches, the Diamond is a little shorter, narrower, and a hair thinner than the iPhone, and at 3.9 ounces, it's almost a full ounce lighter.

Then there's the touchscreen: 2.8 inches diagonally and at full VGA resolution, easily beating the iPhone's 480 by 320-pixel resolution. Whether one can appreciate VGA resolution on a 2.8-inch screen is an open question, although initial reports indicate that the Diamond's display is, indeed, dazzling.

And that brings us to the Diamond's TouchFlo interface—a sleek, easy-to-use touch UI that runs on top of Windows Mobile.

On the Touch for Sprint, TouchFlo looked like a 3D cube that you spun around with your finger. On the Diamond, TouchFlo boasts a row of icons at the bottom of the screen (for functions such as messaging, music, weather, photos, and Web browsing)—tap an icon, and the display spins and twirls to the appropriate application. Nice.

The Diamond also looks good in the spec department: HSDPA for 3.5G Web browsing and downloads, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4GB of internal memory, a 3.2MP camera, and an accelerometer that turns the display to landscape mode when you turn the Diamond on its side.

For Web browsing, you get Opera for full HTML rendering and zooming in to Web pages, along with a separate YouTube app.

All very enticing, but lurking underneath it all is the professional version of Windows Mobile—and underniably powerful OS, but tough to use when you're out and about. Indeed, with its intricate menus, the pro version of Windows Mobile is almost impossible to use without a stylus, so let's hope the Diamond has one.

Still, Windows Mobile Professional (the new version 6.1) means full compatibility with corporate Exchange servers, along with Microsoft's mobile Office suite (good for composing and editing Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents).

So, can the Diamond take on the iPhone? On paper, it certainly wins out thanks to its HSDPA and GPS abilities (although the upcoming 3G iPhone will probably draw even come June). And I like the size and weight of the Diamond, plus the sheer capabilities of Windows Mobile (the iPhone has yet to get a true office suite).

But while the TouchFlo interface looks like a pleasure to use, Windows Mobile itself is a bear without a stylus—and with all its tweakable features and options, it's a tough nut to crack for a novice.

In any event, I'll hold off on any final judgments until I see one in person—which may not be for awhile. The Diamond is set to arrive next month in Europe and Asia, but it won't land here in the U.S. until the second half of the year. No word on pricing yet.

China Earthquake

CHENGDU, China - A powerful earthquake toppled buildings, schools and chemical plants Monday in central China, killing more than 8,700 people and trapping untold numbers in mounds of concrete, steel and earth in the country's worst quake in three decades.

The 7.9-magnitude quake devastated a region of small cities and towns set amid steep hills north of Sichuan's provincial capital of Chengdu. Striking in midafternoon, it emptied office buildings across the country in Beijing and could be felt as far away as Vietnam.

Snippets from state media and photos posted on the Internet underscored the immense scale of the devastation. In the town of Juyuan, south of the epicenter, a three-story high school collapsed, burying as many as 900 students and killing at least 50, the official Xinhua news agency said. Photos showed people using cranes, mechanical hoists and their hands to remove slabs of concrete and steel.

Buried teenagers struggled to break free from the rubble, "while others were crying out for help," Xinhua said. Families waited in the rain near the wreckage as rescuers wrote the names of the dead on a blackboard, Xinhua said.

Parents of the dead students built makeshift religious altars at the site, resting the corpses on any available piece of plywood or cardboard, and burning paper money and incense in a traditional honor for their child in the afterlife, according to NPR's Melissa Block.

The earthquake hit one of the last homes of the giant panda at the Wolong Nature Reserve and panda breeding center, in Wenchuan county, which remained out of contact, Xinhua said.

In Chengdu, it crashed telephone networks and hours later left parts of the city of 10 million in darkness.

"We can't get to sleep. We're afraid of the earthquake. We're afraid of all the shaking," said 52-year-old factory worker Huang Ju, who took her ailing, elderly mother out of the Jinjiang District People's Hospital. Outside, Huang sat in a wheelchair wrapped in blankets while her mother, who was ill, slept in a hospital bed next to her.

Xinhua reported 8,533 people died in Sichuan alone and 216 others in three other provinces and the mega-city of Chongqing.

Worst affected were four counties including the quake's epicenter in Wenchuan, 60 miles northwest of Chengdu. Landslides left roads impassable Tuesday, causing the government to order soldiers into the area on foot, state television said, and heavy rain prevented four military helicopters from landing.

Wenchuan's Communist Party secretary appealed for air drops of tents, food and medicine. "We also need medical workers to save the injured people here," Xinhua quoted Wang Bin as telling other officials who reached him by phone.

To the east, in Beichuan county, 80 percent of the buildings fell, and 10,000 people were injured, aside from 3,000 to 5,000 dead, Xinhua said. State media said two chemical plants in an industrial zone of the city of Shifang collapsed, burying hundreds of people and spilling more than 80 tons of toxic liquid ammonia.

Though slow to release information at first, the government and its state media ramped up quickly. Nearly 20,000 soldiers, police and reservists were sent to the disaster area.

Disasters always pose a test for the communist government, whose mandate rests heavily on maintaining order, delivering economic growth, and providing relief in emergencies.

Pressure for a rapid response was particularly intense this year, with the government already grappling with public discontent over high inflation and a widespread uprising among Tibetans in western China while trying to prepare for the Aug. 8-24 Beijing Olympics.

"I am particularly saddened by the number of students and children affected by this tragedy," President Bush said in a statement.

International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge sent his condolences to President Hu Jintao, adding: "The Olympic Movement is at your side, especially during these difficult moments. Our thoughts are with you."

Premier Wen Jiabao, a geologist by training, called the quake "a major geological disaster," and traveled to the disaster area to oversee rescue and relief operations.

"Hang on a bit longer. The troops are rescuing you," Wen shouted to people buried in the Traditional Medicine Hospital in the city of Dujiangyan, on the road to Wenchuan, in comments broadcast by CCTV.

"As long as there was a slightest hope, we should make our effort a hundred times and we will never relax," he said outside the collapsed school in Juyuan.

The quake was the deadliest since one in 1976 in the city of Tangshan near Beijing that killed 240,000 — although some reports say as many as 655,000 perished — the most devastating in modern history. A 1933 quake near where Monday's struck killed at least 9,000, according to geologists.

Monday's quake occurred on a fault where South Asia pushes against the Eurasian land mass, smashing the Sichuan plain into mountains leading to the Tibetan highlands — near communities that held sometimes violent protests of Chinese rule in mid-March.

Much of the area has been closed to foreign media and travelers since then, compounding the difficulties of getting information. Roads north from Chengdu to the disaster area were sealed off early Tuesday to all but emergency convoys.

In Chengdu, the region's commercial center, the airport closed for seven hours, reopening only for emergency and a few outbound flights. A major railway line to the northeast was ruptured, stranding about 10,000 passengers, Xinhua said. Although most of the power had been restored by nightfall, phone and Internet service was spotty and some neighborhoods remained without power and water.

Nervous residents spent the night outside, some playing cards or heading to the suburbs. State media, citing the Sichuan seismology bureau, reported 313 aftershocks.

"Traffic jams, no running water, power outs, everyone sitting in the streets, patients evacuated from hospitals sitting outside and waiting," said Ronen Medzini, an Israeli student in Chengdu, via text message.

When it hit shortly before 2:30 p.m., the quake rumbled for nearly three minutes, witnesses said, driving people into the streets in panic.

"It was really scary to be on the 26th floor in something like that," said Tom Weller, a 49-year-old American oil and gas consultant staying at the Holiday Inn. "You had to hold on to something like that or you'd fall over. It shook for so long and so violently, you wondered how long the building would be able to stand this."

While most buildings in the city held up, those in the countryside tumbled. On the outskirts of Chongqing, a school collapsed, killing at least five people. Residents said teachers kept the children inside, thinking it was safer.

The city of Mianyang ordered all able-bodied males under 50 to take water and tools and walk or drive to Beichuan, where most of the buildings had collapsed.

State TV broadcast tips for anyone trapped in the earthquake. "If you're buried, keep calm and conserve your energy. Seek water and food, and wait patiently for rescue," CCTV said.

Although initially measured at 7.8 magnitude, the U.S. Geological Survey later revised its assessment of the quake to 7.9. Its depth — about six miles below the surface, according to the USGS — gave the tremor such wide impact, geologists said.

The earthquake also rattled buildings in Beijing, 930 miles to the north, causing evacuations of office towers. People ran screaming into the streets in other cities, where many residents said they had never felt an earthquake.

In Beijing, where hundreds of thousands of foreign visitors are expected for the Olympics, stadiums, arenas and other venues for the games were undamaged.

Li Jiulin, a top engineer on the 91,000-seat National Stadium — known as the Bird's Nest and the jewel of the Olympics — was conducting a site inspection when the quake struck. He told reporters the building was designed to withstand a 8.0 quake.

"The Olympic venues were not affected by the earthquake," said Sun Weide, a spokesman for the Beijing organizing committee. "We considered earthquakes when building those venues."

Some 660 miles to the east in Anhui province, chandeliers swayed in the lobby of the Buckingham Palace Hotel. "We've never felt anything like this our whole lives," said a hotel employee surnamed Zhu.

The massive Three Gorges dam, the world's largest about 350 miles to the east of the epicenter, was not affected, according to the information office of State Council Three Gorges Construction Committee. The area around the enormous dam remains increasingly precarious as rising waters in the reservoir have led to landslides.

Premier Wen, after arriving in Chengdu, traveled to Dujiangyan, near the collapsed high school. On his plane, he appealed for people to rally together.

"This is an especially challenging task," state TV showed Wen saying, reading from a statement. "In the face of the disaster, what's most important is calmness, confidence, courage and powerful command."

An Empress an the warriors

Tony Ching’s An Empress And The Warriors promises so much but delivers little. While its art direction looks great, it suffers from a weak story with improbable moments and forced emotions.

Maybe we’ve been spoilt lately by so many lavish period costume dramas/war epics. But with each period epic that comes along, expectation goes a notch higher naturally. Peter Chan’s The Warlords was a very watchable affair. An Empress seems to throw every idea out there into the mix, so we have the ambitious kin of the king, the unwilling heroine, the loyal leading warrior, the forest dweller with a heart of gold, and every other thing that we’ve seen in every other movie.

Mortgages

Mortgages are a necessary part of home buying. With as many diverse types of mortgages as there are mortgage rates, finding what you need can be difficult. But on NationalRelocation.com, the different types of mortgages are laid out on their own pages so the task is easier. Whether you are buying your first home or looking for a mortgage refinance, you want to find the best mortgage rate possible. Mortgages will allow you to own a home, whether a starter home or the home of your dreams, without having to wait until you can pay for it outright. It is a good idea to get mortgage quotes for your home purchase so that you can choose the right type of mortgage for you and your family and get the best deal on a mortgage rate and an interest rate possible.

Here are some basic things to know about mortgages:

* Mortgage companies and lenders are the institutions that will lend you money to pay for your home. A mortgage company will give you a loan for your home, but you are indebted to them for that loan until you pay it off. Lenders will work with you to determine a mortgage rate, as well as decide if you will need any mortgage insurance or a second mortgage. It is a good idea to shop around for a lender or mortgage company, as every institution will offers different mortgage rates and mortgages.
* One of the decisions you'll have to make includes whether to get a fixed rate mortgage (FRM) or an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM). This is an important decision, as one type of mortgage rate may be a much better fit for you. With a fixed rate mortgage, your monthly rates will always be the same. An adjustable rate mortgage means that your monthly payments will vary, or adjust, according to the market.
* If you already have a mortgage but aren't satisfied with your current mortgage rate, you can refinance it to get a lower rate. By doing this you can save money now and in the long term. Your new refinanced mortgage might be for a shorter term, meaning that you'll save on interest in the long term because you'll be paying your mortgage for shorter period of time. Another reason to refinance your current mortgage would be to upgrade your current adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) to a different one so that you can take advantage of the introductory period when the mortgage rate is very low. Fixed rate mortgages can be refinanced to get a lower fixed rate, as well.
* A home equity loan or second mortgage is a way to get money out of your home. Even if you already have a mortgage, you can borrow against the amount of money your home is worth minus what you still owe on the first mortgage. You can use this money to improve the value of your home, pay off debts, or pay college tuition costs.
* If you are a veteran or current member of the U.S. Military, you can qualify for a VA loan, or Veterans Affairs loan. This loan carries many benefits that non-veterans do not have access to. For example, the mortgage rates for VA loans are usually lower. Also, sometimes having a VA loan will mean that you don't have to make a down payment on your home purchase. The benefits for veterans and their families are numerous, but you must be eligible to pursue such mortgages.
* Are you 62 or older? You may qualify for a reverse mortgage, if it fits your needs. A reverse mortgage allows you to receive payments from the equity in your home. The mortgage rate becomes money that you will get every month, in one lump sum, or as a line of credit. In this way, the mortgage is "reversed" so that the mortgage loans is paying you instead of the other way around.
* Do you have bad credit but still want to buy a home or want to refinance? This is possible through bad credit mortgages, which will help you to refinance your current mortgage or allow you to consolidate your debt. You may have less options than someone with good credit and you may have to work harder to get one that fits your needs, but with a B, C, or D credit score you can still get a good mortgage rate.
* Lenders mortgage insurance (LMI) or private mortgage insurance (PMI) is a premium that a borrower pays to a lender. This is sometimes required to protect the lender in case the borrower defaults on the home loan. Sometimes you can pay this up front, but sometimes it is built into the monthly mortgage rate. It is usually required when your downpayment is less than 20% of the home's value.

So finding the right type of mortgage and the best mortgage rate to fit your needs can be a daunting thought. But it doesn't have to be. Explore the different types of mortgages on NationalRelocation.com and find exactly what you're looking for. Your mortgage refinance, home equity loan, VA loan, or adjustable mortgage rate (ARM) mortgage will feel a lot less stressful after finding the best lender or mortgage company to fit your needs.

Credit Card Reviews

There are just so many credit card offers nowadays that choosing amongst them can be quite daunting. Agents of these companies would give you the perks of the online credit cards they are vouching for. What they would not tell you, however, are the certain things that would make you reconsider getting their credit cards. Thus, to make the right choice of credit card, it is important to browse through as many credit card reviews as possible.

One very important reason behind is the sad fact that credit card debt is a very huge problem that is common all over America. But with the help of credit card reviews, you can actually avoid having to deal with this problem.

So, how do you go about finding credit card reviews? There are actually a lot of methods you can use here. One effective way is going online and do a search on credit card reviews. For sure, you will come up with hundreds upon hundreds of websites that feature credit card reviews. Just browse through them and get to know the features and services offered by credit card companies.

Another thing to look out for when browsing through credit card reviews would be the terms of service. It is in this part where the hidden fees would be included. Watch out for high penalties and charges that the credit card companies might employ. This is indeed something you would want to avoid. There are also credit card companies that do not require one to pay annual fees. So, why would you want to pick a card that charges annual fees? For sure, you would prefer the one without annual fee charges, right? But if you do not go through credit card reviews, you just might make the wrong choice here.

Credit card reviews really provide you a better avenue for making more educated decisions. Imagine yourself getting a credit card in a hurry, only to learn that there is a better card just waiting for you around the corner! Low interest rates, no annual fee charges, the works! Wouldn't you be regretting your hasty deci

sion then? But with credit card reviews, you would be armed with more information, which you can use in coming up with a better decision. Exhaust all your options before you do make that decision of getting a particular credit card. Of course, you can get more than one credit card, especially if you find great deals. All the same, it would be better to go through reviews first.

how to get rich online

For those of you who are thinking that this article is a joke, it is not. The truth is, it is quite possible to get rich online. I am by no means rich, but midway through the month that I am writing this article, I have already banked over $8,500. I expect to break $10,000 by month end. And guess what? It wasn't easy, but it wasn't that hard either. So, I am going to outline, in this article, a simple blueprint that IF you follow it, there is no reason why you can't make a substantial income and then eventually get rich online. Think I'm kidding? Keep reading.

Step one is to do a little market research. Find out what people are hungry for, and I don't mean food. Everybody has a problem that needs to be solved. Find out what that problem is and then find a solution for it. If the solution doesn't exist, create a solution. If it does exist, find a way to improve on that solution. The key is to find a market that isn't very competitive. The last thing you want to do is beat your head into a stone wall. There are plenty of markets, or niches out there, that have very little competition. Pounce on them like a dog on a cat.

After you have found your hungry market and created your solution, go out and market that solution. There are a number of ways to market yourself online including article writing, pay per click services, solo E-zine ads and on and on. Find some methods of promotion and get the word out. Make sure your product has an affiliate program so that you can recruit others to help you sell it. That is the key. There is only so much you can do on your own. It takes an army to make an army of money.

After you have marketed your product for a while and are starting to see some success with it, it's time to begin creating your follow up product, which should be an up sell from your previous product. Promote this product to your past buyers, which you should be creating a list for.

After you have done all this, repeat the process for another completely different niche. This way, while your first two products are selling and you have a main product and an up sell product, you can now duplicate this process with yet another product. Just follow the same steps as above.

You continue to do this for product after product, niche after niche for as long as you can think of niches to crack open. Eventually, you will see an income the likes of which you have never seen simply because you have so many products out in the marketplace. How do you think Donald Trump makes all his money? He keeps putting up building after building.

Increase your Adsense CTR

How to Increase your Adsense CTR

In my last post I talked about how to optimize your blog for better paying Adsense ads. If you are just joining us you can read that post here; Optimization Tips for Adsense. Today I want to discuss how you can increase your CTR (Click Through Rate) regarding those same Adsense ads. Keep in mind that I will only be discussing white hat methods as I don't want my readers getting into trouble using various black hat techniques that can be found elsewhere.

First we have to step back and take a look at the platform you are using. If you are a fan of wordpress then my tips may or may not be appropriate in some instances. I am not an expert on wordpress by any means. However I am aware that there are plug ins available to block Adsense ads from appearing on blogs when traffic is obtained through social channels as opposed to search engines. This is important as it will allow you to use Adsense on a blog not necessarily built as an Adsense site. This points back to my last post in which I explained the pitfalls of using Adsense on a site that has mostly social traffic. Ideally you should build a blog specifically for Adsense but as most of you are trying to use it on a blog designed for gaining readership I will try to accommodate you as well. If you are using Wordpress and have a social blog then it would be a good idea to use the plug in for blocking the ads from your readership. If I wasn't so lazy I would look up the name but I'm sure you Wordpress users can find it without too much trouble.

The whole idea when using Adsense is to get people to click your ads. The thing is you are not allowed to encourage people to click on them - doing so can result in you losing your account with Google. So how do you achieve this safely?

The first thing you want to do is eliminate all exit points. By this I mean you want to restrict the options your visitors have of leaving your site. Ideally there should only be two. They can back out (or close the tab) or they can click the ad. In reality you will have to ad a few more bells and whistles just for appearances.

The second thing you want to do is give them a reason to click the ad. This can be done using your content or it can be done by being so ugly that they don't even bother reading your content. Neither case involves using spammy content - doing so can also result in having your account banned.

Note: You are not allowed to create a site JUST for the purpose of making money with Adsense. This can also get your account banned. This is the reason you may have to add a few bells and whistles to your site in order to make it appear as something other than an Adsense site.

Here's the catch 22 - the more you disguise the fact that your site is built for Adsense the less effective it becomes. The more it looks like a "just for Adsense" site the more effective it becomes. The trick is finding a middle ground that doesn't get you banned but still gets you lots of clicks.

The safest way to use Adsense is to just slap it on your real blog - you know the one I mean - that pretty Wordpress blog you started in order to become the next A-Lister. The problem, as I'm sure you are all aware by now, is that while this is safe you don't make any money. You have all the wrong traffic, all the wrong ads and you have Adsense tucked away in a corner somewhere because it's kinda ugly and you don't want to scare away your readers. Every time I read a comment that bemoans the fact that "Adsense sucks" and "I only make $5 a month" I can follow the commenter back to his or her pretty little social blog and see exactly why they aren't making money with it.

If you want to make money with Adsense then you have to build your blog around it and only it. In essence you slap a blog on it rather than slap it on a blog.

Let's talk about Blogger. It's Ugly - It's simple to use - It's Free - and it ranks well in the serp's because it is perfectly optimized for SEO right out of the box. The best thing about Wordpress is that it creates Wordpress snobs and this in turn makes it even easier to make money with Blogger. I have always stated that you can't make money from social traffic. Well that is not entirely true. This blog is an anomaly - it was built for Adsense and affiliate sales but has kind of morphed into a social blog. The thing is I haven't added all the niceties of a social blog. It is still ugly as hell and because of that and the prevalence of Wordpress snobs I make the most money on days when my readers link to me and send their readers this way. Guess what - a lot of your readers get here - take a quick look - mutter to themselves "what the hell is this - a crappy Blogger blog - what could I learn here? Hey what's this ad about?" Click. I shit you not. Since I have become better known I have been getting more and more links (thank you all btw.) and my earnings have increased because of the prevailing snobbery. I have been fortunate that most of you use the term "make money" in your links and as such your readers appear to Google as targeted traffic because they leave the proper trail when finding my site. (see last post). Now obviously this wasn't something I had planned and couldn't duplicate it again but thought it was worth mentioning - just when you think you know everything you get a surprise every now and then.

The point however is that the prevalence of Wordpress blogs has set a standard of what is expected online these days. Not just what other bloggers expect but the general civilian traffic that is searching for shoes and digital cameras and whatever else strikes their fancy. Everyone is accustomed to seeing nice looking layouts. This means even a civilian can spot an ugly blog from a mile away. Guess what - they do the same thing your readers do - take one look and think to themselves that this crappy looking site can't have what I want and leave. The thing is that if they were looking for info on a digital camera and happen to see a big ad for the camera right in front of their face as they decide to leave then they will click the ad.

There is a reason for that big ugly ad sitting up top right under my blog Title. Anyone who doesn't want to read my content has only two choices - back out or click the ad. The majority back out - 7% click the ad. If I want more money then I just increase my traffic. I can increase traffic by targeting more keywords and ranking well for them. I'm currently on page 1 on Google for more than 50 keywords. In another year I should have page 1 ranking for another 50 and my Adsense earnings will double. In ten years I'll be ranking for hundreds of keywords and my Adsense earnings will be silly...

If I had a nice looking blog I guarantee I would have a much higher RSS subscriber count and much lower Adsense earnings.

The best part of using Blogger is that it does the dirty work for you. You don't have to use any black hat tricks to get people to click your ads. It causes people to click out by it's sheer ugliness and Google can not penalize you for encouraging people to click the ads - they own Blogger. It's ugly and it's Google's fault - not mine.

Ad Placement

If you set up a new blog then by all means try out every type of ad and location. When you are done playing just put the big ad block like you see on top of this blog in the same spot on yours. This is the best performing ad and placement. Don't try and meld it into your text. Don't put the post title above it. Don't try to hide it in any way. Just have it sitting there getting in your visitors face. You are trying to make money with Adsense. You are not trying to get repeat customers or long term readers. Make the ad as obvious as you can so that there is no way a visitor can miss it. They will either leave or click it. That's all you care about. If you only get a 1% CTR then get more traffic. Don't over think this or try and get too clever.

I blend the ad in with my color scheme. This is a good idea because it will still be ugly but it will look less like an amateur put the blog together. This may sound funny but there is a fine line between looking ugly and looking like you don't know what you are doing. Ugly is fine but if your site looks like it is abandoned or half built or poorly designed you won't get any clicks at all. I know this doesn't seem to make sense but you can design an ugly site that still looks professional. This blog is plain but it is designed well for it's purpose. If I had orange text in the ads with a bright red border around the ad block it would certainly stand out but it would drive everyone to close the tab and move on. I can't explain this any better - there are just certain triggers we all have that motivates us and color and appropriateness are two such triggers. An orange text with red border ad wouldn't be appropriate and everyone would know that and leave.

A favorite black hat trick is to use a black background with neon colors in the text. This makes a post very hard to read and drives people to click out or hit an ad by mistake. Yes it works but aside from getting banned you will find that you need a lot of traffic because the CTR is very low.

I have found that you get better results by using the most reader friendly colors. Black text on a white background. This is what everyone is used too. This is what we see when reading a book. It doesn't repel anyone. The color blue is the most effective color for highlighting Titles and Headers and anything else you want to stand out. This may be because Google trained everybody to accept this or because some study long ago showed that it is the most appealing color to most people. I can't remember the study but it would be from the same people who received gobs of grant money to find out that the number 7 is the most liked number. Hence the price you see for every product sold online $7, $27, $47, $127 etc. Whether all this is true or not I can't say. I do know that the color scheme you see on this page has been the most effective for me.

Content

Content is very important. You need real original content for a number of reasons. First of all you don't want to get banned for having a spammy Adsense blog. If you don't provide useful information then you will run this risk.

The most important thing about content is this is how you get optimized for the keywords you are targeting. Your post titles and headers play the biggest role in getting the ads you want and your posts play the biggest role in getting ranked in the serp's for those keywords.

Use your main keyword in the URL, Blog Title, Post Titles and Headers. Use as many related long tail keywords as you can in your posts. If you write extremely large posts then you will give Google a lot more text to draw keyword phrases from. The more phrases you give them the more chances you have at ranking highly for obscure terms and less competitive keywords. This will be how you first get search engine traffic. In time as you build backlinks for your main keywords you will see your traffic increase.

I have joked in the past that I write really long posts in hopes of driving the reader away out of frustration or boredom - hopefully clicking an ad on the way out. This doesn't really work of course - at least not in any discernible way. I write long posts for the serp's and to increase traffic. My main goal is to have people leave or click out before they ever get to the content.

Should this fail then your content becomes your second wave of attack. Aside from using it to increase your rankings you should structure it in such a way as too provide the reader with just enough information but not too much. If your niche is about "Toilets" then write your posts about the toilets that show up in your ads. Which toilet is sturdier, looks better, has the best warranty, is the most eco-friendly etc. Give them lots of info regarding toilets and maybe suggest the best brand in your opinion is the one that happens to pay the best CPC. Don't give details on where to buy one or the price for example. Leave the reader wanting to know these details. Presell your ads and the reader will likely click on the toilet ad for the brand you mentioned in order to find those remaining details.

How you write your content will differ depending on the niche you pick. I can't give you a step by step system that will work for everything. What I am telling you is how I optimize for Adsense in a very general way. Once you have decided on a niche then you will have to tweak it to suit the niche. Some topics are impossible to write long rambling posts about. I might be able to squeeze out a few epics about toilets but I would be hard pressed to write an opus on the subject of "Carp Recipes". I wouldn't have to though - I could find a hundred short recipes and use each one for a post - optimizing "Carp" and "Recipe" in each post. If I was doing recipes I would be sure to mention that the best recipe book I have seen for cooking Carp is the one that just happens to be showing up in my top ad block. Of course mentioning the book would also cause G to present the ad if I knew it existed and it wasn't being shown. The Chicken or the Egg?

No two niches will be the same but this is where you have to get creative. The better you are at thinking outside the box the more successful you will be. Experiment all the time. You may think you have the best ads. Try different post titles and see what other ads get displayed. You may find that a different ad doesn't pay as much but gets clicked 10 times more than the high paying one. If given a choice always take the more popular ad - it will make you more in the long run.

Pay close attention to your keyword stats - the section in your stat counter that tells you what keywords someone used to find your site. You may find that no one is looking for "Carp Recipes" but several people found your site looking for "How to Clean a Carp". You just happened to use the term in one of your posts. You have now found a keyword phrase that gets traffic that you hadn't optimized for. Create a post on this topic and check the ads you get for it. Instead of recipe ads you suddenly get ads on how to clean fish. Maybe they pay better. Maybe you suggest to your readers that the best method for cleaning a carp is found on so and so's book "Ten Ways to Skin a Big Ugly Carp". My point is - don't look for a set of steps that you follow on every niche. Use a broad outline to set up a blog and then be ready to modify it as you make progress.

This is getting epic once again so I will leave you with one last point. You need keyword anchored backlinks to get top ranking. You can play with your blog all you like but without backlinks you will never get the traffic needed to make a decent income. Getting backlinks are hard and time consuming but it has to be done so plan on spending most of your time working on them and not your blog. I need you to realize this because many of you will set up a perfectly optimized blog and then get frustrated when the traffic doesn't show up. If you are starting out pick a niche with little competition - set the blog up and you will find that you can get top ranking without a lot of backlinks. You won't get much traffic or make much money but it will show you that the system works. This will give you the confidence and more importantly the patience to tackle a better niche the next time.

De la hoya VS Forbes

By David A. Avila

Whenever I hear boxing fans or experts say a fighter has no chance it makes me hesitate, especially when both fighters are former world champions.

Oscar De La Hoya steps into the ring for a final time in Southern California to face former junior lightweight world champion Steve Forbes at the Home Depot Center on Saturday. The fight set for 149 pounds plus one, is called “Homecoming” and will be televised on regular HBO.

De La Hoya is a huge favorite among odds-makers but they’ve made plenty of mistakes in the past.

Sure the East Los Angeles boxer who captured gold in the 1992 Olympics and won world titles in six weight divisions is the physically bigger guy, but under dogs do win.

Lets return 34 years ago when the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was located where Bally’s currently is situated and when the Jackson Five were hitting their stride. I was a young forklift driver with amateur boxing experience and all the talk was about the big fight coming up.

It was big, bad George Foreman the unbeatable behemoth who clubbed fighters down like so many rag dolls facing an ageing Muhammad Ali in Africa.

“I like Ali,” said this then 18-year-old to one dockworker.

Before you could say Joe Frazier there were 25 other warehouse workers running toward me to make $20 bets. I hesitated, then, thought about it in my head Ali beat Sonny Liston, why can’t he beat Foreman?

“Ok,” was my answer and the rest is history.

Ali beat Foreman and I didn’t have to quit work and move to another state. Ali was a huge underdog especially after Foreman destroyed Frazier to take the heavyweight title. The so-called boxing experts said Ali had no chance.

That’s not enough proof?

Let’s do another heavyweight fight because people seem to remember them more.

It’s 1988 and Evander Holyfield beats Carlos De Leon to unify the cruiserweight world titles. A friend of mine, a boxing expert watching the fight with me, says Holyfield could not fight at heavyweight. I make a bet with him that he cannot only fight at heavyweight, but he can beat Mike Tyson if they ever fight. About 20 people laugh out loud so I casually bet four of them right then and there. I also take their names down.

But before that fight happens, it’s 1990 and Tyson is about to fight Buster Douglas. The odds are staggering. Douglas has no chance say the odds-makers. Of course, we all know that Douglas knocked out Tyson.

A few years later, Holyfield does beat Tyson. I get my money from the one guy I can find. Actually, he finds me and scratches his head.

“You called it,” he says.

Upsets are not always predictable. But when one fighter is a defensive wizard and has never been knocked out, you got to give that guy his props.

Forbes lacks the power punch but that doesn’t mean he can’t beat De La Hoya.

“I’m a decision fighter,” Forbes says. “My game is being smart and being a boxer.”

If you’re a true boxing fan, then you really want to see the fight that has “huge upset” written all over it. How many boxing fans have seen the Ali-Foreman fight?

Don’t listen to anyone who writes or says, “don’t watch this fight it’s a waste of time.”

Boxing is full of upsets. You don’t want to miss them.

Anybody ever hear of Billy Backus? How about Carlos Baldomir beating Zab Judah? Heck, even Israel Vazquez, yes the same Vazquez who recently fought three titanic clashes with Rafael Marquez, was a big 5-1 under dog against Oscar Larios in their third fight in Las Vegas.

The odds guys don’t always get it right and that goes for the boxing writers too.

You have to fight the fights.

And when those upsets come, man, they’re satisfying.

Who can say Carlos Quintana-Paul Williams?

If you want to go further back, I wonder what the odds were for diminutive Jack Dempsey to beat the giant Jess Willard?

It only takes one punch to change the outcome.

YOGA

Yoga (Sanskrit: योग Yoga, IPA: [joːgə]) is a group of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. It has been defined as "technologies or disciplines of asceticism and meditation which are thought to lead to spiritual experience and profound understanding or insight into the nature of existence." Outside India, yoga is mostly associated with the practice of asanas (postures) of Hatha Yoga or as a form of exercise.

Many Hindu texts discuss aspects of yoga, including the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Shiva Samhita.

Major branches of yoga include: Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Raja Yoga. Raja Yoga, established by the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and known simply as yoga in the context of Hindu philosophy, is one of the six orthodox (āstika) schools of thought.

The Sanskrit term yoga has many meanings. It is derived from the Sanskrit root yuj, "to control", "to yoke", or "to unite".Common meanings include "joining" or "uniting", and related ideas such as "union" and "conjunction". Another conceptual definition is that of "mode, manner, means"or "expedient, means in general".

2009 Audi A4

That model uses a 1.8-liter turbo unit that is closely related to the 2.0T in current U.S.-market Audis. It, like all of the engines in the new A4 lineup, uses direct injection. In 1.8-liter form, it produces 160 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, and when equipped with a six-speed manual, it accelerates the A4 to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds. A Multitronic continuously variable transmission (CVT) is available as an option on front-wheel drive A4s.

The top-specification 3.2-liter V-6 sends its 265 hp and 243 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels using Audi's rear-biased Quattro system, and, with a manual 'box can hit 62 in 6.2 seconds. A six-speed automatic transmission is still under development for Quattro-equipped cars - the previous unit won't fit in the new chassis because of the new layout. The 3.2-liter uses Audi's AVS variable valve lift system, which helps improve fuel economy drastically: the new engine uses almost fifteen percent less fuel than the old one - which produced ten horsepower less.

5 Steps to Increase your Google Page Rank

Google Page rank is based on back links. Back links are Links pointing to your website from another website. The more back links you have the higher your PR will be.

1. Join forums, forums are a great way to achieve links to your website. In most forums you are allowed to have a signature and in your signature you can put a link to your website. But another important note to look on is making sure the forum is somewhat related to your website. You will still get credit if it's not, but if it's related to your website than you will be accomplishing two tasks at once.

You will be advertising for your website (bringing in targeted traffic) You will also be building your websites presence.

Your websites presence is very important to your survival. The more people see, or hear about your website the more credibility you will have and this increases your chances of having these visitors come back and possibly become leads.

2. Submit to search engine directories. Search engine directories are a good way to get a free link to your website. They also increase your chances at being listed higher on popular search engines like Google, and overture.

Most search engine directories allow you to submit to their website for free. This will allow you to increase your web presence by being listed on another search engine, and it will also be a free link.

Remember the more links you have the higher your PR will be

3. Using ezine ads (or newsletters). Creating an ezine will probably be the most beneficial step you can take to increasing your web presence. When you create an ezine you will be able to keep visitors coming back to your website for more by using signatures and giving special deals.

Ezine's will also allow you to increase your back links. By creating an ezine you can submit your information about your ezine to an ezine directory. This directory will than link to your website(thus giving you a free link).

4. Creating and publishing articles. Articles are an easy source of generating new traffic. You can include your signature in your article. This will bring in more traffic from article submission directories.

Your signature usually consists of 4 to 8 lines. Usually the first line would be the title of the website that you are trying to advertise. The last line would be the link to the website and the lines in between these would be a sales pitch to draw your viewers into your website.

5. Links from related websites. Gaining links from related websites can be one of the most frustrating tasks you can attempt.

They are very easy to find, but can be somewhat difficult to obtain links from.

Moller M400 Skycar

So much of the automotive industry runs on the fumes generated by hype; how much air can you blow? And it’s very easy, even for jaded industry veterans, to fall for it, generally because you want to believe. One look at the 4-passenger Moller M400 Skycar and we don’t much care who you are, this is a dynamo—hustler and hooker, the collective futurecars dream.

Then we wake. And it’s a mess. Of the manufacturer’s claims quoted above, namely that the M400 is “feasible, personally affordable, personal vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) vehicle”, the one that is hardest to accept—and that almost ruins the dream for us—is the VTOL aspect. This technology requires an extraordinary amount of force and thrust. The manufacture claims it can achieve this with “a patented thrust deflection vane system that redirects thrust.” Could be, but to get an idea of how successful the far-better-funded US Army has been with VTOL, read about the V-22 Osprey. Or better yet, read about the RAF’s Harrier Jump Jet, with which the M400 claims some technological affinity.
